The Plextor EX1 External SSD

Plextor finally released their latest generation external SSD, weighing only 30 grams, we all now don't have to sweat whenever we need to bring our external SSD out. Not only light weight and slim, The Plextor EX1 is built with extreme speeds in mind, using the latest industry-leading USB Type-C connector with the powerful Plextor high-performance SSD core to provide exceptional data reading/writing speeds. It fully enhance the performance of external storage devices, especially for large-capacity file transfer and backup.

[Review] Redmi Camera, Game Qualities.....

Since I've got a Redmi, I had to just test out the camera and its gaming qualities. I think that's my main concern when it comes to getting a new phone. Normal social applications like instagram, hangout, Facebook, twitter works just fine like any other phone. But not all phones have good camera or gaming qualities. My S3 has lag so badly that I can barely even load games.

So Redi has a 8MP camera, not that great in today market since Samsung offers up to 13MP for back camera. However, a 8MP camera turns out not bad for a phone camera. Here's some of the photos I've took, in 6MP, fine quality, using Steve Job (without specs) as the model :p

Looking great, Steve Job! hahaha. I think its pretty decent enough for a phone camera, even though its just 8MP. Great to showcase your favourite scene or food using this phone. :D

Gaming

This phone is just normal in its gaming qualities, good for games like flappy bird, candy crush, clash of clans. But however, serious gamers, especially those who like graphic intensive games e.g. RPG games, this phone is not the one for you. It cannot support those games.

The graphics of these games looks decent to me. But for gamers who want better gaming performance, then maybe not this phone.

Security
I think with technology advancement, I'm worried about the security of my phone. Like which apps are actually secretly running. :x And finding a good security app isn't easy, especially when you want to get a free one (cheapo me:p) Worry not, Redmi actually has a pre-load security application.

The security app

The cleaner can clear the data cache and residuals files. The data usage allows you to keep track on the amount of data that each app is using and you can set a data limit for the whole phone. The blacklist allows you to block contacts! *hooray* Power is to track the estimated remaining power duration and the battery configuration allows you to optimise the battery usage. 

Won't explain more on virus scan, but definitely this is one of the most useful tool in this security. Lastly, permissions allows you to adjust the access of different applications. (: One app, 6 great use.

Benchmark
Using the AnTuTu benchmark, you can see where your phone position based on performance among the rest of the phones including HTC, Google Nexus, Samsung and Sony.

Xiaomi's official launch model : Redmi

Since on XiaomiSG Facebook has already posted photos on their delivery since Saturday that they are sending out the orders, I was already waiting on my seat for my order to arrive. :D

Was happy to receive a call from my dad while I was at work that my Redmi has arrived today around 5 plus. *hoots* But sadly I wasn't the first 100 to order the phone so I didn't get the thank you card with Li Bin and Hugo Barra's autograph :( And I didn't get the accessories, boo, might get in the Mi3 order (if I ever order though) 

After I got home, I decided to do a Shokotan favourite pose. Bite the new toy box. hahahaa.

I think I look like a idiot here. Pardon for the Redmi plastic piece still on the phone for I don't have a screen protector yet. I shall get it soon, like real soon. :p

Basically the REDMI isn't exactly red in colour, but rather its back colour is in dark grey. So it should be known as GreyMi haha. (:

And here is the comparison of the size of Redmi with S3 in the middle and iPhone 4.

Can see that Redmi is the biggest but not as fat as S3, some what reminds me of iPhone 5 style haha. 

After using for a while, the phone doesn't lag and it is at the normal level that you don't have to worry of your phone hang on you yet. But how long can it last, I have not tried it yet. Perhaps I will soon to test out how long can it last. And the interface is similar to iOS, but I like that I can customise the themes. 

And here's the SD card slot and the dual SIM. I love ♥ the dual SIM function, coz I have a spare data SIM from Singtel but I don't have a iPad to use it. And now it comes in handy for me to use it with my prepaid card. *double win!*

So now what you see in the picture are the status of two SIM cards. One is a data SIM number, the other is a 2G SIM number. I've tried to whatsapp using the data card and receive calls on the 2G SIM number. It works perfectly and you can check the status of your SIM card.

Just because Xiaomi designed a SG theme, I've decided to download it and applied it. Love it TTM!!! I like how the MBS picture moves on the lock screen haha, okaii I sound like a total idiot. :x

Okaii, further review of the phone will be up soon with a video of it. Meantime just enjoy the photos ;) If you are really tempted to get, on the 27th Feb, Xiaomi Online will be releasing the second batch @ 12pm. For those who are going to the IT fair on that day, you can drop by Singtel side and check out the phone too! And Starhub is also releasing the phone on that same day. Rejoice fans! However, I am not sure about the accessories for Redmi. No news from the telcos if they are selling the accessories.

But the walk-in service center @ The Central will be not be selling the accessories for now. So the only way to get is through online orders or get someone to buy directly from China :p. 

Xiaomi's Redmi Launch in Singapore today!

On most technology news platform and Singapore news, they have already announced that Xiaomi is officially venturing to South-East Asia and Singapore is their first stop. *hooray* And their official launch of their first model that is brought into the market, Redmi, launched today @ 12noon.

Like many others, I've got my brothers to station in front of their computers so that either one of us can get Redmi. Why do we even need to wait? Xiaomi phones are selling hotcakes in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong! We believe that it would be the same situation here too. 

So why do that situation even happen? 

Redmi only cost S$169 without contract and being a typical Singaporean, I don't really fancy getting tied down with a contract. Plus, since a few years ago, all new plans and recontract plans have a small cap for data plan. For price range less than $100, you get only 2-4GB usage of data. T_T

I am still on the 3G platform with a full 12GB worth of data to use, since I have yet to recontract, I am not ready to give up this. Also, to recontract and get a phone with that price worth, you will not get a phone that has the following specs: 

All photos taken from Xiaomi.  With all these details, it was enough to convinced many people and me that Xiaomi has the skills to produce phones with quality and sell at a reasonable price. S$169 can't even get me other brands with specs at this level with contract.

So as 12noon strikes, everyone tried to order Redmi online, that is the only platform for today. However, many of us ran into problems ordering, even my brothers too. Warning given was:

But I've managed to purchase one REDMI!!! *dance for joy* I managed to get through the error at 12:06 and made payment at 12:07. After that this was shown in screen:

Within 8 minutes, Redmi was sold out. It was drastic for many fans who didn't get the phone, but I believe that there will be a next batch for sale. I am looking forward to receive my phone from DHL ~~~
