NVIDIA and partners unveiled GTX 1000 series notebooks in Singapore

On September 7, 2016, NVIDIA announced NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080, 1070 and 1060 GPUs for notebooks, now available in SEA region, providing gamers with a quantum leap forward in performance and power efficiency on the world’s fastest-growing gaming platform. Based on the NVIDIA Pascal™ GPU architecture, GTX-10 Series GPUs are manufactured on the leading-edge FinFET 16nm process, and have been crafted for performance and optimized for performance per watt. The award-winning Pascal architecture makes GTX 10-Series GPUs the ideal foundation for building notebook platforms that enable virtual reality to be experienced on the go.

Notebook manufacturers are using the GPUs inside potent portable gaming devices as thin as 18mm, as light as four pounds and equipped with cutting-edge technologies to deliver astounding performance at 120Hz and 4K gaming.

NVIDIA Pascal-based GPUs represent the single largest generational performance jump in the history of gaming notebooks. Designs range from thin and light to desktop replacements. Performance for VR and PC gaming reaches levels never seen before in a mobile platform. Compared with prior-generation Maxwell architecture-based GPUs, the new GTX 10-Series GPUs for notebooks deliver up to 75 percent more performance right out of the box. And with the Dual-FET power supply and multi-phased power controllers, they offer more than 3x the overclocking potential, for even faster performance.

The GTX 10-Series GPUs for notebooks also include support for the latest NVIDIA BATTERY BOOST™ technology, delivering up to 2x more battery life while gaming and ensuring significantly smoother gameplay when unplugged from the wall. And with NVIDIA G-SYNC™ technology, the best gaming displays are getting even better, marking the first time that 2500×1400 resolution and 120Hz displays are available in a notebook.

Like all Pascal-based GPUs, the new GTX 10-Series GPUs for notebooks also support NVIDIA VRWorks™ technologies. This includes NVIDIA Simultaneous Multi-Projection technology, which can yield up to a 3x VR graphics performance improvement over previous-generation GPUs. This advancement allows notebook gamers to play VR games with higher levels of detail for a more realistic, immersive experience.

Simultaneous Multi-Projection technology is also being integrated into the world’s biggest game engines, Unreal Engine and Unity. More than 30 games are already in development, including Unreal Tournament, Pool nation VR, Everest VR, Obduction, Adr1ft and Raw Data.

Also supported is NVIDIA Ansel technology, a powerful game-capture tool that allows gamers to explore, capture and share the artistry of gaming in ways never before possible. With Ansel, users can compose the gameplay shots they want, pointing the camera in any direction, from any vantage point within a gaming world. They can then capture 360° stereo photo spheres for viewing with a VR headset or Google Cardboard. Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Witness are the first games to ship with Ansel support, with more on the way soon.

PLAY THE FUTURE with GeForce GTX

Had a chance to attend NVIDIA's private gaming party event, Play The Future with GeForce GTX on the 11 Dec at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. It was held at level 1, Chengal 2.

Hi food!
Reached there just in time, as the event was supposed to start at 6pm with dinner allocated till 7pm. We were given a private pass and a t-shirt for this event. Had dinner first while waiting for them to allocate rooms for us to try out the VR. There were only 3 station, and two of it was in each room, designed to give us the space to experience VR to the fullest.

The room where the one of the station was held.
I got my chance to try out two different station since out of the three, two station had the same games to try out. The first station that I tried out had three games on VR for us to test, however, no photos of the games itself allowed as the games just looked normal on computer screen anyways.

The first game was The Blue, the setting of the game is underwater, on a shipwreck. The objective was for us to touch the fish and also the big whale. I was terrified, for I have never stood so close looking at the eyes of a whale, and secondly, it was all so real that was trying not to stare at the whale too long. Of course, my main fear was the tail of that big whale, it was racing in my mind "OMG OMG OMG, will the tail hit me in the face?". Probably those who were in the room were laughing at my silly actions. Trust me, I looked silly as it was just 2D on computer screen but it was all sooooooo real with VR.

The second game is Cool draw, or something, can't remember as it was not that scary. Actually that game is pretty cool as you can change the canvas to something that you like, it can be starry night, or space. You can be as creative as you want, walking into your drawings , enjoying what you can create. Basically it is a safe environment of your own world~~

The last game for the first station is to fix the robots, basically you are the so-call "mechanics". This game allowed you to test the remote to pull, turn and push. Pretty interesting as you can feel the remote's vibration in every movement. Wells, it was still scary for me, for I was afraid that the bits and pieces of the parts will fall onto me. And from what I know, no one managed to find the faulty part of that machine that we were supposed to work on. 30 seconds was given for each player to find the faulty part, dang! I failed and suddenly the floor decided to open and dumped out the poor robot. That was my ultimate fear! To fall off the room and i tried to moved myself as far from that portal as possible *sweats*. Poor staff had to pacify me that it was okay, I'm still on ground floor, I'm not going to fall off. But it was so real that I cannot contain my own fear T_T.

After experiencing the VR in the first station, I was as shaken as a little lamb. This is how future gaming would be like, experiencing each game at its fullest, real-life experience. If CS were to be set in VR, I would wonder if each player gets to feel the pain of each bullet if they get shoot in the game :p. hahaha But I would love to experience games like the second game, Cool Draw (or something), where I can glaze into the lovely skyline while enjoying my own creation.
Taking shoot of the station while someone else was trying out.
The second station was just a sit down setting with a few games for us to choose, and a time-frame of 5 minutes each player. I got the chance to try out two games and it was fun to be able to look into the game 360 degrees with the Oculus glasses. Tried out a sword battle and a machine battle game, wells I suck in the machine battle because I'm not used to game controllers. The overall experience was fun but not as fun as the first station.

One of their staff, Sharone trying out the games after everyone was done. :p
The overall experience with Nvidia was truly amazing and wells, in the near future with VR introduced to the market, I can turn one of my rooms into a gaming room. Soon Soon, as a part of my wishlist.
Must post with the banner. *hehe*

Play the Future with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980Ti

Credits: Nvidia Singapore FB
Had a chance to join the event, Play the Future with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980Ti, by Nvidia Singapore last Thursday (11th Jun) at the Hood Bar and Cafe. This event was on how awesome G-sync is when you are playing games and also their latest graphics card, GTX 980Ti.

Snap Snap a photo with Batman and GTX 980 Ti !
Quite a crowd for this event and after registration, we just had to take photos with Batman, whom was standing outside the cafe with the GTX 980 Ti ! At first I thought it was a dummy set, until someone was saying, nooooo, its the actual product! :O (molest it).

As for door gifts, we were all given a cap and a DC Super Hero Lego Key Light, provided we have posted up our photos with Batman. Everyone wanted the Batman Key Light, alas, they probably had 5 of those. I got cat woman instead.
Say Hi to Cat woman
While waiting for the rest to come in and stuffs, Explodreamer, FoliathR and I headed to check out the games on the 4 laptops that were displayed near the stage. All these laptops are equipped with Gsync and 900M series graphics card.
Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and Aftershock laptops
Clearer photos of the 4 laptops. Far left to Right: Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and Aftershock
I was excited to see how well Gsync works while I'm playing games, not that I'm a gamer or what, but playing games on a better graphics card with awesome gsync, why not? :p

Took a video of FoliathR playing Dying Light on Asus:
Smooth indeed my friend. I didn't experience any lack while I was playing on that too. So smoothhhhhhhh.

After a while, the event started, with the host introducing Mr Simon Tan, head of Nvidia TW (I think). Then he passed on to Mr Jeff, who is the expert in the technically stuffs of Nvidia.

Mr Jeff talked about what exactly is Play the Future, the settings that are required to play in the best settings for the upcoming and new released games.
DX12, 4k and VR, settings that we want for the best gaming experience
After that he introduced us the latest Graphics card, GTX 980 Ti, which is their new flagship card.
Geforce new flagship
Why is this better than its predecessors?
Because it is 3X faster
Based on the chart given, GTX 980 Ti is 3x faster than its predecessors, not only that, it can support up to 4k screen resolution. *whooo ♥ * Think how awesome it will be while playing Witcher 3 on a 4k screen ? You can see every single awesome detail of Geralt, even the hair, the hair! (goes crazy about it) Actually I didn't have to think about it, because Nvidia Singapore had a set up there!

Next, Mr Jeff moved on to talk about DX12, what exactly does DX12 do and how does it affect the gaming experience.
DX 12 has new graphics effects and low level API.
With GEFORCE GTX 980Ti, gaming world is def taking a huge change
Explaining how DirectX 12 works here won't make any sense, since I am not a gamer who actually understands how each and every different settings can affect gaming. I'm gonna show the video that Mr Jeff shown during the event (pardon for the half cut video, some parts maybe missing :p)

Then he moved on about VR Optical system:
The issue that GPU doesn't render warped images
So to solve this issue, Nvidia introduce the multi-res shading.
This is how the Multi-res shading works.
Beside about the multi-res shading that works well with the VR, Mr Jeff also mentioned about Gsync, the new settings that allows gaming experience to be at its top condition. Even though Vsync works to ensure that there's no broken images when you are gaming, but it doesn't work well when there's a frame drop in the game. Not all games are on consistent framerate, thus, that's where we see screen tearing issue. With G-sync on, it tells the GPU the framerate needed to support the game itself, hence, screen tearing is no longer seen during gaming.
A diagram of how the traditional monitor works.
And this is with G-Sync
For gamers who are gaming on laptops instead of tower, worry not, now there are 4 laptops that equipped with G-sync. The implementation of G-sync on laptop is different from tower.
A key is set in the middle for G-Sync to be implemented.
Not only the G-Syc is implemented in the GPU itself, it also uses Nvidia Selected Panels.
It uses gamer grade display.
If you wanna get a new gaming laptop, Nvidia Singapore even have the list of the top gaming laptops that are worth your money.
At least a GTX 970m graphics card is considered on their list.
Oh man, I have a aftershock with GTX 960m graphics card. I hope Witcher 3 won't have tearing screenings while I'm playing on it.
This is the future of gaming experience.
If you own any of these, you are playing in future, experiencing the best gaming settings that you ever had. Damnnnnn, to think that when I purchased Aftershock in March, I opted for GTX 960m graphics card. I am not in sync with the future gaming world at all :(.  After Mr Jeff was done, it was free roaming and dinner time.
Check out this baby.
And of course, we tried on playing all the games on those G-synced enabled laptops, testing how smooth the whole gaming experience is. Even though *coughs* one of the laptop game crashed when we tried to load it (shuts her mouth).
A proof that the tower is using GTX 980Ti
We tried running benchmark test on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, played on Gigabyte, max settings, 1080p.

Not bad, considering that there's totally no tearing screen, how awesome can Nivida go? But I am still hoping that I can play Witcher 3 on GTX 980Ti someday, so that I can turn on hairworks (dreams).

Hopefully someday will come soon *sings~*. Okaii, back to checking out steam summer sale.
